Root: Bark of the root is scraped and boiled, the liquid is drunk as an anti-malarial, by the Guyana Patamona. Roots are boiled and the water drunk as an anti-diarrheal, by the Guyana Patamona.

Root and Stem: In an astringent decoction to clean ulcers and wounds.

Stem: Bark is febrifuge; wood is astringent and vulnerary.

Leaf: Used in French Guiana to clean and soothe the skin. Leaves are boiled, and the water drunk as an anti-menorrhagic of as a treatment for cramps during the menstrual cycle, by the Guyana Paramona.
